xPDJT was Impeached as President for actions he took as President, therefore he should be tried as President and the Constitution dictates that the CJ preside, not Leaky Leahy.

The indictment (article of impeachment) is no longer valid as the clock ran out when they delivered it to the Senage after Trump left office. It’s that simple.

Sorry, but he is no longer president so it end all impeachments. Retarded timing on the part of the coup participants.

I don’t think you understand what an impeachment is about. According to your logic, we can impeach all prior presidents.

The constitution says “...Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, AND disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States...” The emphasis on AND is mine. It is important because he is neither in office nor can he be disqualified from future office. He would face a civilian trial should evidence of his guilt be sufficient, which it is not. He told protesters to peacefully and lawfully let their voices be heard.

I think it’s very simple. Roberts declined because it’s not an impeachment. Trump isn’t in office.

I have only one question, since when does the U. S. Constitution mean anything to any democrat?

There is a reason why the Chief Justice presides when a President is on trial. Otherwise the Vice President would preside, someone with an obvious conflict of interest, since conviction would make that person President. Since Trump is no longer President there is no reason for the Chief Justice to preside. But I don't see why Harris should not preside rather than Leahy.

Of course they should not have the trial because it is nonsense from a constitutional standpoint, and because Trump never did what Pelosi accused him of doing.
