Not necessarily. They may have believed that GameStop's original model of selling video games was going the way of BlockBuster, and that the company's stock was overpriced. I happen to believe that myself, although I haven't been involved in trading this stock, as I am more often long than short. GME just didn't interest me until it recently became famous. My interest now is that of an interested bystander.
Who would be suing who?
I do wonder if the brokers have sold more stock than actually exists. If, perhaps, brokers have confirmed transactions that didn’t actually occur.
Things can get really messy if the international bankers/deep state can’t get this contained.
Very funny! Great movie
The SEC needs to arrest the people who have lent out 140% of the company and pierce this nonsense. Collect all of the companies that have done this as far back as statutes allow...
Well, in the times we find ourselves in, what’s to stop the Biden admin from claiming the private markets are unstable, and to protect the taxpayers they snatch all the 401k’s. They’ve been after that money for years. And they can blame it on all the racists.
Such things used to be inconceivable. Not anymore.
That sure seems similar to big stores buying from wholesalers in bulk and getting a product cheaper and flooding the market with it and driving prices down and hurting smaller businesses who dont get the discounts because they can’t afford to buy in bulk.
The big stores put the small ones out of business and then stop selling the product altogether in some cases.
Happened to a family member in a small town who sold sewing supplies the town desperately needed. She started the business and it was thriving and then walmart moved in. They started selling patterns and threads for cheaper than she could even buy from wholesaler.
It put her out of business.
Not long after, they stopped selling patterns.
But she was out of business.
It made no sense because patterns were still in huge demand in the small town. The people had to drive 50+ miles to get them in the nearest larger town.
But corporate didnt realize that. They’re was a corporate national movement to move away from selling patterns at many stores. They didn’t take into local demand.
That was years ago and of course it can all be bought online now... except amazon is the big store.
Anyways... just made me think of that.
Was just on my Schwab trading platform. GME now trading around $405.00, big volume.. Also a note which says that short sellers have lost 70 billion on their positions across the market
I was trying to explain shorting to my ladyfriend, but I showed her that diagram and then she got it. Thanks.
Absolutely agree. I got killed in a short raid on a firm I held sometime ago. Pinned down and not allowed to rise. Conspiracy does not even begin to describe what that was about but no one seemed to care.
Meanwhile, I got questioned over a substantial option position I acquired just before a buyout was announced (Kerr McGee). I had no contact with nor illegal info about either the buyer or seller, just a lucky guess coupled with a lot of research. Really POed me.
They also donate to Republicans. They play both sides, always have.
Yep.
For sure.
What the youngsters really want with this particular tactic (inho) is to force .gov to declare Robin Hood a domestic terrorist organization!
Forcing .gov to overplay their hand is a _great_ strategy—if you can do it hundreds of times it goes drip, drip, drip and before you know everyone with an IQ over room temperature is laughing at them.
Once that happens, virtue signaling will no longer be acceptable, howling in laughter at .gov will be.
That is called “changing the narrative”.
Notice that it does not cause one human life to be lost and not one person need go to jail.
That is the _smart_ way.
Working smarter is always better than working harder.
With all due respect, as far as I know, there hasn’t been a legitimate attempt to determine the average age of the reddit group. I think it’s a over generalization to call them “kids”. These “kids” took on a hedge fund through perfectly legal means, and turned the tables on them. That can’t be done if they didn’t have anything to lose.
Great link. Made me laugh. (at the hedge funds)
The key to unlocking the code is that there is only one side.
