The song was anti-war but the lines at the end are apropos to the time honored GOP stance:

They think “If we ignore the true wishes of our conservative constituents, go our own way to benefit our personal income and career longevity, compromise with the Dems every time, get in close with the power circles in DC, then maybe we can dump on the voters and they’ll still bring us back again.”
Never really worked. People held their noses to vote for Dole, Bushes, and (gulp) Mitt Romney instead of the Dem and the Dems around them if they won. People needed someone to speak FOR THEM, not for fellow insider power brokers.
When Reagan and Trump brought out many millions who never voted all the other years, the lesson did not sink in.

I was a member of the Republican Party for almost 40 years. After they refused to back Trump, I got online and changed my party affiliation to “unaffiliated”. I’ll still support any candidate that loves our Constitution, but the GOP is dead to me. If Trump starts the Patriot Party, that would be the end of the RINO’S power-base. It’s time. Many Independents, Libertarians, and even some moderate Democrats would join us. Then, we could REALLY drain the Swamp. Until the Uniparty is gone, we have no real voice.
