The Maldives, the true canary in the climate coal mine, miraculously seem to be above water.

My measuring stick is Liberty Island in New York. It’s perfect because we have photos from the late 1800s forward to today. Also, the island sits only a few feet above the water. And to my eye since the 1800s the water level there hasn’t budged one inch. It certainly hasn’t changed enough to be visible.

How about Venice? It actually has more flooding but it is because it is sinking.
