If Leahy can't participate, the Republicans have a 50-49 majority on the jury.
That means they can vote for witnesses, evidence, whatever.
If Leahy can't resume office and is forced to leave, then Republicans take the majority and Schumer is pushed back to minority status.
If it happens, I hope the Republicans can use the opportunity to replace McConnell as their leader.
