Alito and Thomas are Roman Catholics.

Roe v. Wade Court

Blackmun - Methodist wrote the opinion

Concurred

Potter Stewart - Episcopalian

William Douglas - Presbyterian

William Burger - Presbyterian

Thurgood Marshall - Episcopalian

Lewis Franklin Powell - Presbyterian

Perhaps you need to dig a little deeper.

Sorry, forgot one William J. Brennan, a Roman Catholic which helps your “cause” of RC hatred I guess. Also a democrat which takes away points for you.

Do we have a count of how each SCJ voted on this?

You need to dig deeper on the PCUSA and ECUSA if you think mainstream Episcopalian and Presbyterian denominations are Christian. The guys you names were just on the leading edge of that slide. Methodists are a mixed bag, and have been for years. If they can get rid of the Africans, they’ll be well positioned to catch the Presbyterian and Episcopal groups I named.

There probably are a few Christians scattered in the PCUSA, ECUSA, and even the Francisites, but I’ll let God sort them out.

They didn't follow a Pope as you say so you are doing the apple/oranges thing. Again, you need to dig deeper. Heck, the PCUSA was established 11 years after Roe v Wade. Also, the Presbyterian Church was from the reformed tradition as well so moving the goalpost is a weak counter.

Ignored Thomas and Alito for some reason too.

The PCUSA has been around since 1758. In 1958 it absorbed the smaller United Presbyterian denomination and rebranded itself UPUSA. In 1983 it took over the smaller PCUS (which had split out from the PCUSA in 1861 for reasons you might not understand) and returned to PCUSA for its name. It codified its liberalism with the 1967 Confession.

Now, one could argue that the 1958 merger was significant enough that the modern PCUSA should be dated from then, given the significant historical theological differences, but the 1983 merger impacted neither the theology nor the trajectory of the historic PCUSA.

Under liberal leadership, the combined PCUSA has grown from approximately 4.2 million members to approximately 1.3 million members.

A merger between the PCUSA and the the liberal sect of the UPCUSA merged in 1983.

The justices I listed were in the “conservative” sect of the Presbyterian Church so your original point was moot. Protestants justices established Roe v. Wade. What say you?

A merger between the PCUSA and the the liberal sect of the UPCUSA merged in 1983.

You may have a typo instead of an error. The 1983 merger was between the PCUS (no A) and the United Presbyterian denominations. (You got the initials of the denomination right there, but it was commonly referred to at the time as UPUSA, not UPCUSA).

By 1983, the PCUS (originally known as the PCCS) was generally liberal; the conservatives started bailing from it in 1973, generally to the PCA. Post 1983, some conservatives bailed to the PCA, but most that bailed from both the former UPSUA and the former Confederate denomination jumped to the EPC. So if you can identify Justices that voted for Roe that went to the PCA (pretty sure there weren't any) or the EPC (I am unaware of any, but you might be able to dig someone up), I'll accept your proposition in part, although it would more likely reflect a change of heart.

Back to the UPSUA- it was generally liberal from the 1930s after the OPC split out, but there were more or less conservative congregations for the next half century.

I will say that as of Roe v Wade, the Roman church was institutionally pro-life. That is no longer the case. I recall a few years ago (probably 10 or 15 now) there was a pro abortion event at Notre Dame. At the time, around a third of the US bishops came out against it, and about the same percentage were in favor. (The rest seemed to want to keep their heads down and mouths shut.)

Apologies, I used UPCUSA as an acronym for United Presbyterian Church in the United States of America.
