I think that living in cities promotes leftist ideology. City dwellers are surrounded by large numbers of strangers any time they leave their abode, which causes stress. In addition, they have little to no contact with nature (other than vermin), which distances them from any true connection with our world. These factors lead to mental pathologies. Get them out of the cities, and those pathologies have a chance to heal so they can become ordinary people.
