I don’t see it that way. I think it is possible for Assad to stay in power and for the Kurds to have some autonomy in northeastern Syria, at least as much as the Kurds in Iraq have while remaining part of Iraq. For me it is not about regime change, it’s just about some autonomous political rights for Kurds. There should be no cause for continued war between the rest of Syria and the Kurds of Syria. The conditions in Iraq have shown that is unnecessary.

So basically, we decided to break off a chunk of Syria with the most oil and give it to some separatists, and defend it against the legitimate government. That’s an Illegal invasion No matter how you slice it.
With zero authorization under US or international law.

My own mental state right now is colored by the unbridled Communist takeover in the USA and they are running full tilt hard left out of the gate. They will run US right in the abyss in very short order unless there is a check soon. Consequences of more of the same are beyond imagination.

It is easy to get a distorted view of things in spite of past experience.

For me, at this point, it is hunker down time and wait.

Syria was a destabilized non-functioning state, held in the capital alone only by foreign powers, Russia and Iran, and removed from northeastern Syria not by the U.S. but by ISIS.

Assad did not rescue the population of northeastern Syria from ISIS. The Kurds did with our assistance.

If anyone deserves continued peaceful control of northeastern Syria it is the Kurds. If they can only do so with our minimal support, so be it. If their price for political peace with the Russian-Iran puppet Assad is some political autonomy for themselves, so be it.

How do you know that that alleged 40 vehicle convoy wasn't already in country assisting the Kurds and merely moving to another location?
