The Europeans tax tax tax...

Road tax, petrol tax, tolls, and congestion taxes in cities like London and Paris

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vignette_(road_tax)

They also.correctly charge by axle weight since wear and tear is exponentially related to axle weight. The user truck owner’s should pay for road damages otherwise its corporate welfare and conservatives should be against welfare of any form.

https://www.gao.gov/mobile/products/109954

“About 22 percent of all loaded tractor-trailers exceed State weight limits, and the percentage ranges as high as 81 percent for other types of trucks. This is significant because a five-axle, tractor-trailer loaded to the 80,000-pound Federal limit, has the same impact on an interstate highway as 9,600 automobiles. In addition, as truck axle weights increase, pavement damage increases an at even faster rate. For example, while a truck axle carrying 18,000 pounds is only 9 times heavier than a 2,000-pound automobile axle, it does 5,000 times more damage. “

I was living in Austin when that petition went around I signed it as well. I’m hoping the honorable representative from Fredericksburgs referendum gets to the ballot in November for true public vote on secession if 50.11111% vote aye the consent is removed and it’s time to field an Army of modern Texians

I thought most states already charge trucks by weight.

Not nearly enough to cover the thousands of times higher damages they do on our roads. They should pay thousands of times higher then. Here is the list by state. Texas only charges registration and it’s less than a grand for a semi. The state diesel tax don’t even come close to covering the damages from an individual truck from that trucks portion of the diesel tax. A class 8 articulated lorry gets 8 mpg of diesel while a class 2 pick-up gets 25 mpg or more and does thousands of times less wear and tear. 8 vs 25 and the tax per gallon is the same. It’s easy to see how the citizenry is subsidizing the class 8 trucks damages and repairs which is a form of corporate welfare and conservatives should oppose that in every form. We should be a pay as you go state. Use roads pay to use them directly via miles driven and axle weight calculations for the real damage rates in mm per year wear rates which have been scientifically proven time and time again. Remove the gas and diesel taxes at the state level and charge everyone for how much they actually use the asset, based on science and how much actual wear that use is causing. Then also divide up equally new builds via bonds and then charge by the mile to use those roads by the people using them, and the wear they put in them. That way Houston drivers pay for Houston roads and Dallas for Dallas. End the welfare of road use and subsidizing roads for cities they don’t live in. Here again conservatives should be on board for personal responsibility and direct use payments with no welfare for any user or group of.user’s. Pat for what and how much you use it’s that simple.

Very Interesting. Where do you think US total barrels per day will be by 2nd quarter?

Also, is it possible to collect fracking crews so quickly after a price increase? What happened to all those workers over the last year?

Baraq won re-election with 4 dollar gas, but if there’s a true shortage, the voters will be very unhappy.
