The Constitution says impeached and removed from office. If you are not in office, you can’t be removed, therefore you can’t be impeached.

Senate has done this before ... and not only thatm, articles of impeachment were passed AFTER resignation from office.

Senate had a trial anyway.

What the constitution says is fodder for academic debate.
