Mrs. Trump walked across the South Lawn for the final time during her husband’s first term in office wearing an off-the-runway Chanel cropped jacket from the French fashion house’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection.
Underneath is a fitted black crepe sheath dress by Dolce & Gabbana, perhaps Mrs. Trump’s most loyal fashion duo. The dress, from the Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection, retails for about $2,155.
The cropped Chanel jacket, featuring silver buttons emblazoned with the brand’s iconic double C logo, was paired with black suede Bottega Veneta gloves, snakeskin Christian Louboutin stilettos, a rare black crocodile Hermès Birkin bag, and Mrs. Trump’s favorite pair of Bottega Veneta art deco-inspired sunglasses which retail for about $440.
Melania Trump’s farewell to Washington, D.C. ensemble, styled by her friend and personal courtier Hervé Pierre, mimics the iconic fashion codes of the late Lagerfeld who famously headed Chanel for nearly four decades.

“I figure Trump knew only martial law could have saved him but he sacrificed his personal safety instead of forcing America to make the fight go hot”
If he knew martial law would have saved HIM, he did the right thing — for him. But since he also knew martial law would save AMERICA, he should have a different choice.
Personally, I almost think he would have sacrificed himself for the country, but believe the left was using his children to threaten him. In NYC, he only had to deal with the mafia; Deep State is much more sinister.
Melania is ALWAYS interesting!

Sonderklasse.
Magnificent as ever!
I was there to see it in person. Beautiful.
On her last day in office, she gets a fashion spread. Wow.
The shoes... so gorgeous. She can wear heels that high because she is tall, and presumably her feet are a long, but not overly wide. The trick she mastered flawlessly was walking across the grass lawn so many times in those things to get to the helicopter or back.
All that aside, she is so much more than a fashion model; she is a role model. She has a level of natural intelligence, tact and heartfelt kindness that shone through in everything she did publicly during her tenure. And quite obviously she is a team player and a strong partner for her husband's unique persona.
Like "the great Santucci."
I went to the send-off at the airport, and got to see him up close. His speech and manner were very gracious and composed, as were hers. When she said to the crowd, "You'll be in my prayers. God bless you, God bless your families..," tears sprung to many eyes, not just mine.
The people who attended were mostly young and middle-aged, educated and well-dressed people whom he had appointed to serve in his administration. He had his upbeat music played so loudly that it beat your heart for you, but also kept everyone from becoming maudlin. The look on so many faces, including his, was shock—how could this happen in our country, with our laws, traditions and legal system? The list of lawless abuses over the past five years is a complete travesty—and tragedy.
I was a young adult in DC during the Jackie era. In my opinion, Melania's style overshadowed even Jackie's, particulary in choices of footwear. Jackie, who had long feet like Melania, did that thing of wearing kitten heels all the time to avoid being taller than her husband, something that didn't seem to bother Bruni and Sarkozy.
Do an image search for “Jackie Kennedy shoes” and you will see some incredibly ugly footwear.
