Mitch has nothing left to lose.
He won’t run for election in 2026 and he will not be picked as majority leader in 2023.
And the Republicans will not kick him out of the party.
But in the mix of things...he holds the serious PAC money and keeps the 2022 senators up for re-election in a controlled way. Trump has to demonstrate that his PAC money is worthless and usher out ten to fifteen of these guys (Rubio at the top).
If more republican senators revolt, Mitch will at least have to step down as minority leader.
It’s time for a new face. Josh Hawley would be a good replacement.
Difficult to kick someone out of the party.
We have a big tent.
We don’t have rules in place terminating someone’s party membership. Shoot, in many states, ‘party membership’ is dictated by state law.
One can choose to associate or not associate with any party at will.
There are not even any party dues.
But we can remove someone from our party leadership positions. And we can refuse to endorse them.
This is a significant act.
There won't be a Republican Party if it fails in this.
President Trump has already said he might form a Patriot Party, and if he does then instead of changing from (R) to (I) like so many of us are doing, we'll change it to (P).
The RINOs have it backwards. They need us, but they hate us. We hate them, sure, but we don't need them. Not at all.
“ And the Republicans will not kick him out of the party.”
The sorry SOB only thru Trump under the bus because he will never run for re-election again and probably never go back to Kentucky. Trump won Kentucky by 26%. I guarantee you McConnell is polling in single digits in the state.
