She was a good SF mayor. Kept everyone at arms length. Everyone was whacko there.

There is no minefield. Consistency is required only of Republicans. Democrats are free to say and do whatever they want, even if 180 degree changes of direction are required at whatever intervals they choose.

Feinstein is showing a sense of ethics and perhaps a sense of the gravity of the moment I hadn’t expected of her. Maybe she’s trying to put the brakes on initiatives that could trigger a Fort Sumter moment. And this time, the red states would have a big chunk of the industry and munitions plants, as well as the more economically-rational state governments.
