President Donald Trump has discussed forming a new political party in recent days, hoping to continue his influence after leaving the White House, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday night...he said he would want to call such a party the Patriot Party, the sources told the paper. The president reportedly discussed the idea with several aides and others last week.

It is interesting you bring up a 30 point conservative self litmus test, however, Trump in some ways was far from conservative, especially on the budget.

A self reporting litmus test isn’t for weeding out people you disagree with. It is for weeding out people who PRETEND TO BE conservative but are not.
Expect to see cotton in Pelosi’s ears because they are bleeding hair like an afro hands shaking like a washer on spin cycle.
Such Independent parties never succeed, even if Trump were behind it.

My take as well...the Republican party would become the third party.
I have always been skeptical of the third party organizations, especially conservative efforts, but it seems the time is finally right for another run at it.
Trump is the only person who could make it a success.

The Patriot Party is the perfect name for a new political party.
President Trump is the reason why this would be an exception. Third parties have risen before and major parties have fallen before.
President Trump brings with him a large group of motivated, dedicated voters. This country needs more than two parties, particularly when we see those two parties effectively working as one. In many ways, conservatives have the same struggle as hardcore liberals do: the major party we associate with doesn’t have our back. Pelosi - as misguided, nasty, and left as she is - isn’t nearly far enough to the left for people like AOC. Likewise, people further to the right usually have nothing but contempt for people like Mitch McConnell.
Mitch and all his little friends do not have our back. We need a party with people that represent us. We need those people to win seats in state legislatures and Congress. We need to force the GOP to with with us to get anything done.
To be tactically smart, 80 million Trump supporters should immediately register as Democrats and run MAGA conservatives in Democrat primaries. Watching the party trying to tell its 70 IQ base “NO! Don’t vote for THAT Democrat! I don’t CARE if you like what he is saying!” would be worth the price of admission. :)

They've rigged the system so only one party can win. But they forgot that opposing beliefs don't really need another party label, and that there are many ways to take advantage of all the work Democrats have done to game the system.

Great in theory. In reality, the state GOP parties are either dead or dying. In NY we had Ed Cox for a decade as the Democrats took over the state Assembly and Senate with super majorities. The GOP was left to crumbs and a handful of county patronage jobs. So don't count on these state GOP parties, grassroots efforts are the only way to get anything done.
