Nixon had 5,000 sent from Ft Bragg back in 69 for the half million antiwar protesters march on the Pentagon. I watched a daylong convoy entering Ft Meyer from my window in BUPERS. Nixon also had a double ring of city buses enclosing the perimeter of the White House. And he had the guts to talk with some protesters during the night at the Lincoln Memorial - not hide in the basement.
