I am guessing it is propaganda. They want to keep up the theme of Russian interference in everything related to POTUS.

The FBI has put out more propaganda in the past 12 days, than any media outlet has disbursed in the past 4 years, IMO. All of this stuff about threats to the inauguration, need for thousands of troops, threats to the state capitols, armed violence, etc., etc., is just an effort to keep people from looking to closely at who was involved in the “riots” on January 6th.

It was interesting that - before most of the people involved in the riot were even identified - that the FBI asserted there were no ANTIFA present. How could they know that when the investigation had scarcely begun and they were asking the public's help in identifying people in the photographs?

It's absolutely propaganda. If you read the story it hasn't even been confirmed that a laptop was stolen -

There is no indication that a laptop was actually pilfered from the speaker’s office and the agency said in an affidavit that “the matter remains under investigation.”

The affidavit cites a "former romantic partner" of the woman relaying the story about the laptop and the attempt to sell it to Russia but nowhere in that affidavit does it say anything about a laptop having gone unaccounted for.
