A California man who police said claimed to be too afraid to fly due to COVID-19 hid out for three months in a secured area of O’Hare International Airport until his weekend arrest, prosecutors said Sunday.
Aditya Singh, 36, is charged with felony criminal trespass to a restricted area of an airport and misdemeanor theft.
In bond court Sunday, prosecutors said Singh arrived at O’Hare on a flight from Los Angeles on Oct. 19 and allegedly has lived in the airport’s security zone ever since, without detection.

Likely lacked the funds to fly.
The guy was masquerading as an airport worker using a stolen airport ID badge that he was wearing around his neck. I think he knew exactly what he was doing.
Three months?! LOL. He could have walked back to L.A. from Chicago in that time. Seriously.
It sounds like he was casing the place. How do you survive at the airport with no funds, unless you have a secure access to funds.
Have you ever seen the Tom Hanks film "Terminal?"
That's how!
Regards,
Just watched the trailer for “The Terminal” out of curiosity. Looks terrible.
It's extremely predictable, preachy, and boo-ooring!
It's a typical Hollywood story tarted up with some anti-govt., anti-borders crap (the chief of the airport immigration authority - gasp! - doesn't want to let the passport-less Hanks into our country), but my point stands: If not necessarily exactly as portrayed in the movie, it would nonetheless be quite possible to "hang out" in an airport for months. You can sleep almost anywhere (albeit in public, with your few possessions tied to your person) since, in internat'l airports, there is always someone from a different time zone who has been in the air for 29 hours and is hence totally zonked out in a seat at a departure gate, and as for money - one can always scrounge up a buck or two for some food, or eat leftovers from the trash.
In short: It's possible, if you aren't too fastidious.
Regards,
And it has Catherine Zeta-Jones ...
He was no doubt provided resources by terminal employees.
He obviously couldn’t afford a razor no less a pair of scissors.
“Aditya Singh, 36, is charged with felony criminal trespass to a restricted area of an airport and misdemeanor theft.”
No trespass if he legitimately landed at O’Hare and was on the secure side and well stayed around a bit.
The employee badge is another thing although employee badges are frequently turned backwards and people just assume it’s legit.
There’s a series called “I (Almost) Got Away With It” that documents true stories of people who were fugitives and remain in hiding for years sometimes. One was about a guy who lived in a department store for months.
Weren't most of the guys in the series fellows who had been caught by their girlfriends while in bed with another gal?
Regards,
Wow.
Thanks. Years and years.
“..And I would’ve gotten away with it too, if it wasn’t for those pesky Mall Cops on their unicycles!”
Unicycles always looked like more work than walking.
The sort of thing you do just for fun.
It is terrible.
