Joe Biden may cancel Keystone XL pipeline permit as soon as his first day in office: source

U.S. President-elect Joe Biden is planning to cancel the permit for the $9 billion Keystone XL pipeline project as one of his first acts in office, and perhaps as soon as his first day, according to a source familiar with his thinking.

President Donald Trump, a Republican, had made building the pipeline a central promise of his presidential campaign. Biden, who will be inaugurated on Wednesday, was vice president in the Obama administration when it rejected the project as contrary to its efforts to combat climate change.

The words "Rescind Keystone XL pipeline permit" appear on a list of executive actions likely scheduled for the first day of Biden's presidency, according to an earlier report https://bit.ly/3nP4993 by the Canadian Broadcasting Corp (CBC).

Biden, a Democrat, had earlier vowed to scrap the oil pipeline's presidential permit if he became president.

Canada's ambassador to the United States said she would continue to promote a project that she said fit with both countries' environmental plans. "There is no better partner for the U.S. on climate action than Canada as we work together for green transition," Ambassador Kirsten Hillman said in a statement.

The project, which would move oil from the province of Alberta to Nebraska, had been slowed by legal issues in the United States.

It also faced opposition from environmentalists seeking to check the expansion of Canada's oil sands by opposing new pipelines to move its crude to refineries.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said on Twitter that cancellation would eliminate jobs, weaken U.S.-Canada relations and undermine American national security by making the United States more dependent on OPEC oil imports.

TC Energy Corp., which operates the pipeline, said it would achieve net zero emissions by 2023 when it enters service. The company also pledged to use only renewable energy sources by 2030

Just remember the actual opposition to the pipeline: That it will give the US access to more oil, and thus more energy.

They’d rather it go to China.

One by one he is trying to wipe out all of Trumps successes.

That probably isn’t what this is. This is likely just to appease the greens who want to cripple the country by blocking energy sources.

Trivia : It was Russia that funded protests against the Dakota Access pipeline.

American leftists are getting support and financing from all our enemies.

I’ve already seen oil prices go up from $1.79 in December on my street to $2.32 at the same station. Had been under $2 for a very long time.

I’ve said this before. Louisiana should shut down all northern pipelines; no heating oil for the criminals in DC!

I very much think most RAT voters will support the decline. They loved it under Obama. If you are a loser at heart, then you don't want things to get better as the life goal posts for a successful life are set higher. In other words, "if everything sucks and everybody else sucks, then my crap life doesn't look so bad."

The guys with serious work will be the board-up service in Orlando. Bye Bye theme parks. Not from riots, but from Going out of business closures. Stay-cations will be the norm.

Remember he made that weird comment about if he had a fundamental disagreement he would just resign a while back. I suspect there will be some disagreements and they may try the 25th amendment route they tried on Trump to force him out. Let’s be honest, Joe Biden is likely a figurehead doing what his advisers tell him to.

Canada under an earlier administration wanted to ship to Chine from their own west coast, but native Americans fought transporting this over their tribal lands.

Another demonstration of Braindead Joe’s betrayal of American workers. More votes for the Republicans at local, state and national levels starting ASAP thru 2022 and then on to 2024.

The strait of Malacca only oil to the west coast refineries which have been reducing capacity due to CARB and the commies on the west coast. More than 75% of the imported oil to the USA comes via the horn of Africa to the gulf coast refineries and to the mid Atlantic states as well. China closing those straights would affect Japan most and alsothe Korea.

There isn’t an economic way for them to get it to market.

In order for it to be delivered to china it would have to be loaded on smaller oil barges in lake superior and then proceed out to the altantic.

Canada has been attempting to build pipelines of their own west coast, however they have more of a permit struggle than our own.
