[I haven’t heard anyone compare such an election to the 1912 three-way with Teddy Roosevelt attempting to return to the Presidency after the then-deep-stater Taft took over. Which probably means it’s been written about numerous times in the last week or so :-) ]
I’ve referred several times to Perot’s two gifts of the presidency to Slick Willy. But if someone of TR’s charisma couldn’t defeat Wilson in 1912, ushering in one of the worst presidencies in the history of the Republic, I’d be surprised if Trump could. And TR carried the 1904 popular vote by a 20% margin and defeated his opponent by 200 EV’s. Note the way the Bull Moose Party has disappeared without a trace, except in the history books.
