What we are witnessing is a struggle for power in the GOP. The GOPe want to destroy Trump and divorce themselves from his supporters. McConnell is not whipping the vote on conviction. He says people should vote their conscience. Andrew McCarthy just wrote a NR piece that Trump should be convicted.

I think Trump has to challenge the Constitutionality of an Impeachment trial after he’s out of office.

In any case, if it goes that far, it will be Alito/Barrett/Gorsuch/Kavanaugh/Thomas who will decide, not McConnell or Chuck U.

The Rats play their game at a pace the easy going GOP "opposition"- down in sleepy hollow- will never be able to counter. Biden and his masters are already on the march to get 11 million ( minimum) new Rat voters into the pipeline.
