Worse than that. The GOPe wants to expunge Trump from any connection to the GOP. They know that Trump is still the de facto head of the party. They fear his influence. They would prefer the Dems take him out.

The G0P has, on the whole, reached symbiosis with the Rats. GOP leadership's actions substantiate your comments. Many have applied the term “uniparty”, and I don't disagree. For all intents and purposes, the GOP is now a moderate wing of the Rat party. Trump is an unacceptable threat to the GOP's influence and largess, whatever the Rats will allow.
