“New Year’s Resolution From God to You.” (If you read the Jan. 3 study, then you are a witness.)
Vol. 42 was the first Bible Study to involve husband David. That happened after he told me about his commitment to the verse, He must increase, but I must decrease (John 3:30).
Upon hearing his explanation, I decided the verse along with David’s reasoning would be my next Bible study topic. But he pushed back. Only when I told him that I would write the study as a “new year’s resolution from which others would benefit” did David reluctantly agree. If you read what my husband said in Vol. 42, it is obvious why he needed coaxing because it was personal in nature.
Six days after the study was posted, from the back of our condo, I hear David repeatedly yelling, “You are not going to believe this!” He proceeded to show me the Jan. 9 entry in his daily devotional booklet, “One Bread, One Body.” The “verse of the day” is, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” What a “timely and Godly confirmation of our Bible Study,” I said to David. Then he pointedly said, “look at the last line.” The last line is the second piece of evidence for our first “Bible Study Miracle.” It reads:
“Praise: David increased the daily Masses he attended and then began to spend hours weekly in adoration. He received great joy and peace in the process.”
Even more remarkable than seeing the name “David” on the verse of the day that (he) had started adopting, was that every word of the entire “Praise” sentence also applied to my David.
Then I started yelling, “Oh my God,” about five times. When I calmed down, I told David that miraculous story has to be a Bible Study about how God is watching us, all of us.
So here are some verses that confirm what we experienced.
God said:
"I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you" (Genesis 28:15).
The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore (Psalm 121:8).
You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways (Psalm 139:2-3).
The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good (Proverbs 15:3).
Jesus said:
“Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops” (Luke 12:2-3).
Pertaining to those verses, I pose the question, “How does He watch over us and involve Himself in every small detail of our lives?” Think about the chain of events that had to happen in order for our “Bible Study Miracle” to occur. The Jan. 9 devotion with his name was in David’s booklet and online before we saw it — well before David told me about the increase/decrease verse — before I decided to write about it. But God knew that page was waiting for us to see! He orchestrated it to make us feel loved and watched over. All I can say to that is, “Praise God!”
