During his first days in office, President-elect Joe Biden plans to send a groundbreaking legislative package to Congress to address the long-elusive goal of immigration reform, including what’s certain to be a controversial centerpiece: a pathway to citizenship for an estimated 11 million immigrants who are in the country without legal status, according to immigrant rights activists in communication with the Biden-Harris transition team.
The bill also would provide a shorter pathway to citizenship for hundreds of thousands of people with temporary protected status and beneficiaries of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals who were brought to the U.S. as children, and probably also for certain front-line essential workers, vast numbers of whom are immigrants.
In a significant departure from many previous immigration bills passed under both Democratic and Republican administrations, the proposed legislation would not contain any provisions directly linking an expansion of immigration with stepped-up enforcement and security measures, said Marielena Hincapié, executive director of the National Immigration Law Center Immigrant Justice Fund, who has been consulted on the proposal by Biden staffers.

From just where in the heck does this 11 million number emanate?
LEGALIZING the votes of those who HELPED PUT HIM IN THE WHITE HOUSE.
Linda Grahamnasty will be dancing the jig.
Nope. Can’t get into a civil war over this! /s
Meanwhile the DC establishment offers a path to poverty and slavery to American citizens.
Biden should re-title his plan to: Making Mexico safe to visit again. After all, with all of the crooks and scum gone from Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and the rest of Latin America, it will be safe to visit winter or summer. There may be a shortage of servers but with all the unemployed in the US, current and future (minimum wage) there will be plenty of jobs, nice weather and tourists willing to part with their money.
Joe’s plan to fix Latin America - way to go Joe! Of course, the US will go to Hell but as Obama said...that’s just old Joe.
11 million
plus hundreds of thousands or millions comping in per year
minus a few who die
minus a few who leave
minus a few who become legal
equals 11 million.
Math like that drove Georg Cantor mad.
My guess is that polling results on the approval of immigration policy took a sudden drop when the number crossed 10 million, so it must never go up beyond the current 11 million no matter what happens.
Time to require these punks to serve in combat prior to any citizenship. I hear people in many foreign languages every darn day. They make zero effort to assimilate/learn what being an American is. Punks like the take a knee pukes.
Its a govt estimate from 1997. There was an amnesty in 1986. Eleven years later there are 11 million illegals. One million per year.
So we are really talking about over 30 million.
It’s more like 50 or 60 million.
That’s nothing, he’s got a huge stack of EOs ready to sign to undo everything Trump did...and more
Its happening
Plus the 10 million or so Indians Biden will give Green Cards to...
Well, Biden went from Mr. Unity and Bipartisanship to shoving a very in-your-face, no-compromise, my-way-or-the-highway immigration bill right off the bat.
I can’t imagine this has any real chance in its current form described here. This isn’t like Obama with health care in 2009, their majorities are way too narrow, they’re going to have to add border security and other concessions to have any chance of it passing.
30 million, minimum.
Flimsey Grahamnesty has voted for this THREE times, he can’t wait to give the Democrats a permanent majority.
Micro Rubio, John Cornyn and Thommy Tillis have signed on as well.
Not eleven. 30 million!!
They have plenty of Bush League Republican Senators already lined up to pass it.
They have spent their careers in pursuit of another amnesty and a permanent majority for Democrats.
They want free money and don’t want to pay taxes as a citizen
