The unsubstantiated push for Senate trial even after presumed return to private citizen status reveals a desire to impose some sense of ‘finality’ to a transition process.
McConnell would not delay if he had the votes. He doesn’t.
The inauguration remains a farce. The evidence continues to seep through with positive acceleration. That evidence enables influencers to remain at their helms. The question is whether those influencers with evidence coupled with orders under insurrection act authority will suspend any transition, specifically any handoff of the nuclear codes.
There are also SCOTUS cases scheduled after January 20th where the evidence should finally be allowed to be entered.
Any suspension of the transition or continuation until after January 20th is plausible as long as the President retains power to suspend.
