Seems like a poor business plan.
It may very well be, but that alone does not guide decision making. Conservatives are sadly mistaken when they presume that people/corporations are always guided by the economic self-interest and are expected to act rationally at all times.
The fact is, this is projection. They often don’t.
The same reasoning was used not long before WWI to argue European powers will never go to war with each other because they were too connected economically and had too much to lose in the event of war. It was a popular theory at the time.
