The bird flew 8000 miles in the wrong direction. I don’t think naming it Joe is supposed to be a compliment.
UFB, if thats the case shouldn’t we have to kill every bird? How do we know where any of them have been?
That is sad, but it makes sense (possible avian viruses) when put this way. Building a Bird Sanctuary would not do either, since most birds are creatures of the flock, especially the small ones.
Most don’t thrive when separated from other birds.

Just remove the leg tag and haul it over to somewhere a few miles distant, and then let them try and find it out of many.
If it’s not diseased, it’s not a problem anyway.

What about the gazillions of birds that migrate.....? Do they quarantine on their own merit or are they shot?
According to another article, the bird caught a ride on a ship that sailed from the US to Australia.
So put it in a cage and send it back where it came from.
