Well said. The 17th Amendment has been a disaster.
To: Mr. N. Wolfe
I know the 17th Amendment was ill-advised, as it took the role of Senators as representatives of their respective states away, making the Senate democratically elected, as the House was. However, the cowardice of the legislatures of the six contested states, which were under Republican control of both chambers of their respective legislatures, was evidenced by their failure to challenge the results of the fraudulent Presidential elections. I am skeptical that restoring the role of state legislatures to elect Senators would result in any better people than the direct vote by the people, as has existed since 1913.
