Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration is again refusing to release the total number of nursing home residents who’ve died from the coronavirus for at least another two months - until March 22 at the earliest, a watchdog group charged.
In a letter to the Empire Center for Public Policy on Wednesday, the state Health Department claimed that it needs another nine weeks and five days to comply with the legal request for a full accounting of nursing home deaths “because the records potentially responsive to your request are currently being reviewed for applicable exemptions, legal privileges and responsiveness.”
The Empire Center submitted its FOIL request on Aug. 3 seeking the total number of COVID-19 nursing home fatalities - those who died in nursing homes and those who were ill and died after being transported to hospitals.
The state reports more than 8,201 residents died in nursing homes. But unreported nursing home deaths - those who were ill and died in the hospitals - could be in the thousands, said the Empire Center’s Bill Hammond.
“The state is stonewalling - plain and simple,” Hammond said in an interview Wednesday night.
“This would be like the New York City Police Department reporting homicides on weekdays and not weekends.”

Some perceptive soul wrote yesterday that Andrew is more interested in being a TV star than in being Governor. Seems a correct judgement, considering how little wisdom he exerts in managing his state.
does that mean we should stop trying to get to the truth, best possible?
just because truth doesn’t matter to some people, it does to many, as well as to God.
but you can keep looking at the little picture and feel like it’s not worth it, if you want.
We have to have faith that God will punish that mongrel faced governor. Maybe when/if he ends up at a nursing home he’ll be taken care of by one of the victims children or grandchildren.
Meanwhile, guess how Cuomo plans to get NYS’s economy out of the toilet: Infrastructure spending, arts spending, and spending on public housing.
I kid you not.
The deficit will be close to $20 Billion so he is going to raise taxes on everyone and everything, because he can’t reduce spending..

Cuomo is betting that the vaccine schedule will override any deaths from covid. It’s called the Obama gambit.
Obamacare forced 11 million people off of their own insurance. Seven million then bought Obamacare insurance. Obama then claimed that 7 million people joined Obamacare and touted it as a major achievement. That’s the way it works.
Cuomo is responsible personally for the deaths of thousands.
This loser is sitting on a half million vaccs that could be used by nursing homes.
Let me see if I can get this straight. President Trump encouraged people to peacefully march to the U. S. capital, and he is accused of insurrection. Gov. Coumo ordered elderly people with covid-19 removed from hospitals and placed in nursing homes where the virus in his words “spread like fire in dead grass,” yet he did not cause one death in the nursing homes. OK.
Yes, Prince Andrew is really causing a spark. The money? Pissh, We’ll Raise taxes!!
