Major League Baseball is pausing all political contributions through its PAC in response to the deadly Capitol riot.

The league announced the move, a first among major professional sports leagues in the wake of the siege, in a statement to the Associated Press.

“In light of the unprecedented events last week at the U.S. Capitol, MLB is suspending contributions from its Political Action Committee pending a review of our political contribution policy going forward,” the league told the news service.

Good.

Don’t give to any of them.

But MLB is dead anyhow.

They committed suicide when they refused to play.

The Office of The Commissioner of Major League Baseball Political Action Committee has donated $669,375 to Senate and House candidates since the 2016 election cycle, with 52.4% of that money going to Republican

In my most naive moments, I dare to hope that we will see a trend among businesses to cease taking political or “Social JUS-tiss” positions, and make their business their business.

Then I wake up.

Pity about baseball, but they have made their bed and now get to sleep in it.
On the bright side going forward there should be plenty of extra room at the ballpark for the democrats to stretch out.

At the end of October, the loss figures are $3.1-billion for 2020’s season. In mid-November, it was adjusted...if you count in fan gear, TV advertising, etc...they set the losses to around $5-billion. The Yankees were at the top of the loss-chart (437-million).

2021? Maybe with vaccinations going on...the season might be 160 games. Whether fans return to the stadiums is a virtual unknown. I’d go out on the limb and suggest at least $1-billion in losses for 2021.

Cash-flow for political donations? What idiot would funnel anything to either party? If you had a chance to sign up Marcell Ozuna to a four-year contract for $80-million or sending $80-million to twenty Democratic Senators...which would you do to benefit your team?

Good news. MLB will be better by getting out of politics. Hopefully, the Pittsburgh Pirates have removed the giant BLM banner from the PNC rotunda.

This is just about timing, like CNN ending airport indoctrination. The campaign is over; these outlets and this spending will probably be back before the mid-terms.

For pro sports, I’m sure lack of revenues, even interest, are taking a toll.

I suppose it’s easier to stop making political contributions for current event reasons than admit they are struggling financially and can’t afford it?

These Sports leagues must be on death’s doorstep. In person attendance gone to nearly zero, massive reduction in licensed apparel sales etc, bid decline in viewers on television, businesses cancelling advertising.... No business on earth can succeed let alone survive like that.
