Week 53 Data Cumulative since September 27, 2020 (Week 40) No. of specimens tested 21,013 397,934 No. of positive specimens (%) 28 (0.1%) 925 (0.2%) Positive specimens by type Influenza A 12 (42.9%) 362 (39.1%) Influenza B 16 (57.1%) 563 (60.9%)
That’s because the flu virus is stupid and gets caught by masks, but the COVID is too sneaky for that.
COVID Cures Influenza!! Hurray!
Activity is currently low today. If it remains this low throughout March, that would be unusual. However, given the changes in behavior happening now, it's not shocking to think Influenza would have a more difficult time spreading this season.
So COVID cured the flu? Wow!!!
That's great but in a country of 330 million, 925 POSITIVE cases for a seasonal illness that KILLS 50k-100k a year seems awfully low or not right by anyone with half a brain. 1 Child has died of Influenza this season? I don't think so.
Every time I heard the authorities say that the flu shot is more important this year than ever I had to just shake my head. I took the flu shot, but I always believed the covid-19 mitigations would severely flatten this years flu spike.
That’s because the influenza virus flees in sheer terror at the sight of the china virus!
Influenza kills an average of 35,900 people in the US per year, not "50k-100k". But your point is not wrong. Activity has been low so far. However, flu season can peak as late as March based on previous years. The testing has been happening for flu; the tests are just negative because flu isn't prevalent anywhere at this point. Peoples' behavior has also changed massively, which will have an impact on a respiratory disease like Influenza.
I certainly wouldn't suggest shutting down businesses for the flu each year (nor for COVID-19 for that matter), but would I be upset if people wore masks in indoor public settings, kept their distance where possible, and stayed home when they felt sick during flu season? No. And doing so would have an impact on flu season every year.
They are now claiming members of the congressional squad have contracted the chinese virus because of the duck and cover routine on the 6’th. But no mention of influenza cases.
Must be out of season eh? Or was it catch and release? I get those two confused.
The fear going into flu season was that you could a) have a spike in Influenza hospitalizations at the same time you have a spike in COVID-19 hospitalizations - thus overwhelming the hospitals like what we saw in Italy and b) get people who would be okay with having the flu or okay if they got COVID-19, but who get both together and run into massive problems.
Thankfully, those fears haven’t manifested. But they’re both reasonable concerns. Influenza results in ~500,000 hospitalizations all by itself each year. Now’s not the time to add those patients. And if you’re going to be hospitalized because of the flu, the last thing you need is COVID-19 on top of it.
What is going on now is highly unusual. Flu levels this low are an impossibility. We can state the obvious, flu cases are being counted as COVID. No need to be politically correct or stupid.
Just guessing you might be a big supporter of mr anthony fauci perhaps.
The flu tests are negative and the COVID-19 PCR tests can’t trigger off anything but SARS-CoV-2.
What you’re suggesting is literally impossible unless you have ~1 million doctors across ~6,000 hospitals around the US all willing to engage in a massive conspiracy of medical malpractice and fraud. But it would actually take more than them. It would take the 2.86 million nurses too. And all the laboratory workers.
All-in, you’d need somewhere in the ballpark of 4.5 million people all working together in perfect secrecy to do what you suggest.
Not really, he says a lot of nonsense and is happy to open his mouth to anyone with a camera. He should really sit down and shut up. Or better yet, resign. I think he’s an idiot because I support getting facts into the hands of the people; not fear or misinformation.
I don’t think he has any concern about misleading the masses. Afterall, there are paid shills for that purpose.
I think the flu is down because the CCP lab is too busy turning out and delivering mutations of the first CCP virus.
“The flu tests are negative and the COVID-19 PCR tests can’t trigger off anything but SARS-CoV-2.”
However, if you don’t test for flu and only test for covid all you’ll get is covid positives and since the pcr test is rife with false positives the flu becomes covid.
Ask your Dr., If I have respiratory symptoms what should I do? Ans: stay home drink plenty of fluids and get tested for covid.
I know, I just asked two different Drs.from two different clinics and got the same ans.
We ARE testing for flu. 397,934 flu tests already this flu season. It just isn't there. If wishes were fishes, we'd all swim in riches. Wishing flu were active doesn't make it more active.
"only test for covid all you’ll get is covid positives and since the pcr test is rife with false positives"
PCR tests have a lot of false negatives. They don't have false positives. If the test comes up positive, SARS-CoV-2 RNA is present at the collection point. No other virus or pathogen known to man can trigger the test. Not the flu. Not another coronavirus. The RNA sequences test in the PCR test only exist in SARS-CoV-2. They're literally the sequences that make SARS-CoV-2 SARS-CoV-2.
The CDC 2019-nCoV Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel has been designed to minimize the likelihood of false positive test results. However, it is still possible that this test can give a false positive result, even when used in locations where the prevalence is below 5%. In the event of a false positive result, risks to patients could include the following: a recommendation for isolation of the patient, monitoring of household or other close contacts for symptoms, patient isolation that might limit contact with family or friends and may increase contact with other potentially COVID-19 patients, limits in the ability to work, delayed diagnosis and treatment for the true infection causing the symptoms, unnecessary prescription of a treatment or therapy, or other unintended adverse effects.
