If a group of generals (some of whom might have even been critical of Trump) were to declare martial law until the last election could be sorted out...that would be much more acceptable to the country than any action connected to the President.

A group of generals I guess you mean the joint chiefs have no authority over the military. The CIC trump and Sec Defense Miller control the military and believe me they are getting ready to come down hard.
