Even as an agnostic, I know this intuitively.
Yet she is still offered, and takes Holy Communion.
That speaks ill of both The Church, and of her.
Assuming Pascal was right, I see a bright future, one might say a downright incandescent, future for her and the hierarchy.
Null and void, I agree in part. Biblically speaking (not by denomination), the priest/pastor offering the Communion is not responsible but the person accepting Communion while harboring sin in their heart (unrepentant). But I believe you are correct in that she is a public persona and her sins are thus pretty public and brazen, so yes, Catholic or Evangelical, she is supposed to be called out. (First privately and then before the church.) This is part of what the Bible calls “falling away”, a time of apostasy, which we have been seeing for some time.
