I took a beating on Twitter Thursday night for making what I thought was a commonsense observation that President Trump should be negotiating favorable terms for resignation "if there are 20 GOP senators who’d vote to impeach."
In our current climate, this was taken as a call for Trump’s impeachment. But it wasn’t a value judgment. It was a mathematical calculation.
As it happens, I do think the president has committed an impeachable offense, making a reckless speech that incited a throng on the mall, which foreseeably included an insurrectionist mob.
These rioters ended up overwhelming security forces and storming the Capitol. They shut down a solemn constitutional proceeding, endangering the lives of the vice president and the people’s representatives. They ripped through the facility, causing not only significant property damage but grave injuries.

Any of Maxine Waters’ peers calling for her resignation for her words inciting people to get in the streets, etc., especially after the riots we’ve seen these last 4 years?

This is just a way to suck the air out of the last two weeks of Trump’s presidency. So even if he does something significant it will be ignored.

Not really. They are just crawling out from under the rocks and telling everybody who they are. This is a good thing.
Most of this narrative is false hysteria.
There was no “ storming” and after security waved a couple hundred people through barricades, opened the doors to them and stood there like a concierge service as they filed last, other staffers or cops met them at elevators and directed them to the upper floor offices, There are videos of all this.
Now that identities are coming out, the protestors who got the most publicity inside the House were idiots larpers and/or fools led by probably some embedded provocateurs. They were not armed and could and should have simply been locked out.
Supposedly the FBI is investigating who inside led these people to Pelosi’s office...an insider job.
The majority of the protesters who were let inside acted like tourists, even standing in roped off lines.
Very disappointed in McCarthy for this dribble.
Thanks to social media we got some good eyewitness and video of what happened.
Their group think is the same as his group think and Washington's establishment exists to take care of and reward it's own.
Their interests are his interests. At the end of the day he runs in the same social circles as the rest and his lively hood depends on his writing and media commentary gigs at Fox and other media outlets.
