An impeached President can never run for federal office again. So it doesn’t matter if the trial occurs after he leaves office. They want to make sure he doesn’t run in 2024.
Let them do it. It’ll make Trump a martyr and clear the Republican primary for Don Jr. or Ivanka.

Wrong. All the impeachment does is send it to the Senate for a trial, at which point they determine guilty or not. At that point, you're removed from office, but that's it. It takes additional effort to add extra punishments such as a ban from Federal office, and the Senate specifically has to want to also do that.
