If Trump or any other president goes the martial law route then it isn't going to be pretty and it isn't going to be short. You will have to suspend the judiciary otherwise they can and will overturn your actions. You will have to disband Congress and rule by fiat because you can't depend on the House and Senate supporting you. You'll have to suspend much of the Constitution because you can't have people working against what you're trying to do. And you'll have to do that for a long time.
