Why ban of @realDonaldTrump proves Twitter not ‘just a platform’
NY Post ^ | 1/08/2021 | Post Editorial Board

So Twitter has “permanently banned” President Donald Trump’s account.

While this will please Democrats, and perhaps lessen the (justifiable) heat the company is taking from regulators, it just proves again that Twitter’s claims that it is “just a platform” are hogwash.

Some of Trump’s tweets were untrue and incendiary, but so are the Ayatollah Khamenei’s. His account is still up. The difference is Twitter is run by American liberals, who only really police one type of person, of one political persuasion.

It’s a little ridiculous that what finally did Trump in was tweeting that he wouldn’t be attending Joe Biden’s inauguration. Twitter twisted that to mean that he still won’t accept the results of the election — which just shows they were looking for an excuse. Rather than let the readers judge, they pulled the plug.

None of this was unforseen and it could have been taken care of when Trump had majorities in both houses. Instead the GOP has now written its own death warrant. The Dems will use social media to crush any and all opposition.

So far Rush Limbaugh is the only Conservative who has left Twitter because of their actions against Trump. Let's see how many follow his example.

I’m not going to believe that Limbaugh left on his own, until he says so.

Mark Levin left Titter and said so.

Yep, “Section 230” protection from liability/slander/defamation/censorship lawsuits is locked in for at least another 4 years now.

Let the market handle it.

There are tons of guys (like Peter Thiel) who could easily construct truly balanced and apolitical competition for Fox, Twitter, the MSM, et al.

Trump could easily spearhead such ventures by bringing his many supporters to those platforms (and get richer in the process).

The Democrats and Deep State wanted to tarnish the Trump brand on his way out the door (after they stole the election), but they can't.

He will now lead the resistance and they know it. In fact, in some ways, it will be easier for the President to lead and speak for the causes of freedom, liberty, and righteousness from outside government than on the inside. He won't be distracted by their ongoing attempts to remove him from office.

And the deplorables are now a guerilla army, unburdened from the restraints of having their behavior reflect on the president.

First they push you back inside when you need to be out and about and then they tell you you’re not welcome on social media...You have to ask yourself, “How important are Facebook and Twitter?” and “If the world stopped using Facebook and Twitter right now, what would happen?” and “Would it be the end of the world if Facebook and Twitter were to suddenly disappear?”.

did he deactivate his account or just “leave”?

ALL these gd conservative commentators need to leave, how has it done anything for them business or profile wise?
It hasn’t it only helps the left.

Hannity said it on his show Rush deactivated his account, he knows Rush so you can believe it.
