WASHINGTON -- The man photographed sitting at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's desk during Wednesday's riots in the US Capitol has been arrested and charged with three federal counts, including theft of public property, federal officials said Friday.

Federal officials said Richard Barnett of Arkansas was taken into custody Friday morning in Little Rock.

Barnett was charged with knowingly entering and remaining in restricted building grounds without authority, violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds as well as the theft of public property, officials said.

A resident of Alabama was also charged in connection with the pipe bomb found on the south side of the Capitol building. Eleven Molotov cocktails and military-style weapon were found in his pickup truck, officials said.

"Just because you've left the DC region you can still expect a knock on the door if we find out you were part of the criminal activity at the Capitol," said Steven D'Antuono, assistant director in charge of the FBI's Washington field office.

"The FBI is not sparing any resources in this investigation," he said.

It was not immediately clear whether Barnett has an attorney.

Bury the murdered veteran Babbitt in Arlington with full military honors.

Watch Progressive heads explode.

Maybe a couple of good retired USAF generals could do that.

“Support legal opposition, discourage extremism and condemn unlawful behavior or our cause will die under the weight of the media onslaught”

I’m thinking our “cause” is different.

Whoever he is, good guy bad guy, whatever, going in and thrashing a
speaker’s office is dumb. If this crowd had entered and simply protested, which many or most did, that’s fine, but destruction and violence was not good no matter who it is. I have zero problem with people seen enacting violence or destruction being punished. The left is hypocritical because billions of this was done last summer with no punishment but it’s consistent to want someone breaking into an office and taking or destroying things see consequences.

His life will be destroyed to send a signal to all who are not part of the leftist movement.

Nobody forced him to have his picture taken. Another 'play stupid games, win stupid prizes' moment.

While true, the reach of the coming punishment will extend well beyond this individual, so the other 99.99% are not safe either.

So explain to me why Ashli Babbitt’s punishment for simply protesting was forfeiture of her life at the hands of Fed-Gov??

This man's behavior was beyond the boundaries of the law and he should be held accountable. Conservatives, do not make the mistake of excusing or condoning unlawful behavior. All conservatives then get painted with one broad ugly brush. The media is looking for every opportunity to condemn every conservative based on the actions of the extremists who are a minuscule percentage our ranks. Support legal opposition, discourage extremism and condemn unlawful behavior or our cause will die under the weight of the media onslaught.

Little Pig's point is about police and prosecutorial discretion, and selective prosecution for political reasons, which is a constitutional violation of the Due Process Clause. How such discretion is used is a fair issue for discussion, and criticism. When a country has too many laws and crimes, they can find some reason to prosecute anyone. Compared to those burning and looting, sitting in Crazy Nancy's desk is trivial, and a waste of resources and taxpayer money. Considering that an election was stolen, prosecuting those protestesting that outrage is purely political.

Pence had to obey the Constitution rather than save it.

Except five minutes later when he got scared for his life, so he decided to usurp the office of President and call out the National Guard. To save the Constitution, you know.

I don’t really begrudge him either decision, just pointing out that any claims he has to absolute innocence are balderdash. He is a hypocrite just like everyone else.

If the Capitol police opened the doors and waved them in, they didn’t exactly break in.
