Yuma Sector’s more than 107 miles of new border wall complete
U.S. Customs and Border Protection ^ | 5 Jan 2021 | U.S. Customs and Border Protection

The hubbub of semi-trucks, bulldozers, excavators and the like hauling, trenching and moving their way across the southwest border came to an end last month as the last panel of the more than 107-mile wall that spans Yuma Sector’s area of operation was erected.

Final Panel The last panel of the Yuma Sector's more than 107-mile area-of-operations was installed recently. Although there are still some remaining security measures to be put in place, such as adding gates, lighting, cameras and a ground detection system, the last panel of fencing was placed on December 21, putting an end to a year-and-a-half-long effort to further secure the international border.

Work on the 18- to 30-foot-high bollard-style wall began in May of 2019 to replace existing outdated or dilapidated barriers along the border from as far west as Andrade, California, to east of Wellton. Fencing was also erected in areas where the Colorado River previously served as a natural divider.

The height of the new wall dwarfs all pre-existing fencing to serve as a deterrent to potential illegal border crossers and drug smugglers. The new fencing also offers a clear viewpoint to the south side into Mexico, providing additional safeguards for agents who were unable to see beyond what was once solid panel-style fencing in some areas.

“The Yuma area was an area of high illegal entries being guided by transnational criminal organizations who exploited and took advantage of our outdated and even dilapidated infrastructure,” said Special Operations Supervisor Vincent Dulesky. “Now we have this new Border Wall, combined with extra technology that will enable the Yuma Sector to maintain operational control.”

Good planning has mitigated some of the election risk. Yuma Sector (traditionally the third heaviest trafficked route, after the Rio Grande Valley and San Diego), has it's last wall panel in place. They probably have the most double barrier of any Sector as well. Strong stuff.

The communists will have the entire wall dismantled by the end of this summer.

Nope. They'll fence the entire border. Communist have to build borders walls, not to keep the other out, but to keep their own from escaping.

I hear ya, but they want the border down, so it will be ordered cut by blow torch and cut down 20 times faster than it went up.

Popular Science reports (https://www.popsci.com/story/environment/border-wall-damage-water-west/ ): "the US-Mexico border wall now covers the entire southern edge of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in Arizona."

Doesn’t matter how good of fence you have if you open the gates

“what is the next high priority?”

I guess that near term, all the existing contractors are rushing to prioritize the work on their segments. Lots of overtime being worked.

Probably the biggest tradeoff at this point is between more road or more bollards in any particular segment.

In the big picture, the next biggest priority beyond Yuma Sector, by far, is the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector. San Diego, long the first or second most heavily trafficked route, is very strongly walled off now. Probably only about 15-20 miles of the 100 needed in the RGV will be done by inauguration day. Relatively urbanized and heavily vegetated.

And the metal given to Mexico as reparations for whatever slight the Marxists in DC can concoct.

“Doesn’t matter how good of fence you have if you open the gates”

Biden Transition Team People have already been in discussions with the Governments of Mexico and the Northern Triangle (like what LTG Flynn was hounded for).

Mexico is resisting immediately throwing open the floodgates, because of COVID, and the Biden folks are looking to fund a surge in immigrant processing, so it may take them six months to ramp up to full speed - but the cartels have already started pushing more to the border.

I can see that happening. You bet.

but i (living in california) am under the impression that our current covid19 problem is largely due to hospital load coming from hispanic dual citizens and visa holders crossing the border... is mexico just being nice to us or are they worried about becoming infected from covid19 from us citizens (i am not aware of that, not that it is not true)?

I would expect they would knock out gates and then use the gates for generating revenue, allowing illegal entrants, and tracking down persecuted patrioXXX rebels and insurrectionists...

“is Mexico just being nice to us or are they worried about becoming infected from covid19 from us citizens”

Apparently, their (Mexico’s) concern is with the migrants themselves coming through bringing COVID, as well as the conditions they live in during transit as high risk of transmission among themselves, and to the Mexican public.

Also, many Mexicans tend to generally look down on Central Americans as poorer neighbors, similar to how many Americans look down on Mexicans.

so, biden is willing to suffer more usa covid19 and more mexican covid19 just for more illegal entrants...

what is the point of slowing the spread campaign, mask campaign, lockdowns, travel restrictions, etc. with that?

rhetorical...

My son and his friends just visited the border wall near Yuma, for fun, actually. They drove down dirt farm roads and parked on the gravel road that runs next to the wall. They were out of their car about 30 seconds when two border patrol vehicles pulled up to check them out. They had been following the boys down the dirt roads. They asked some questions and determined that the boys were not up to any trouble, but declined my son’s request for a photo with them. They did not ask the boys to leave. Apparently they can’t— the gravel road next to the wall is a public road and the public has a right to be there. Good thing to know if anybody wants to, say, protect it from dismantlers...

Thanks for the first hand report (well second hand actually, but still “on the ground” truth).

The roads and technology are vital components of the total “Wall System”. Even in areas without new barrier, dramatically improved detection and tracking is being deployed.

Yuma Sector has 126 miles of border. Assume that coconah Indian gap is the difference in 126 and 107. The other sectors are not complete so maybe Jan 20 we can get accurate numbers. With fingers crossed maybe those mileage numbers can increase this year.

Would love to see Texas Rangers expand and help CBP in RGV. Would provide news articles and political fodder for 2022. Need to see what state legislature’s and honest GOP governors can do to strengthen election laws and file lawsuits to clean up voter rolls. Otherwise illegal aliens will kill the MAGA GOP.
