As I said earlier, I find myself at odds with virtually the entire politico-media class in my reaction to the "storming" of the US Capitol. As I put it:
The political class (represented by a Speaker who flies home to San Francisco on her own government plane) has been largely insulated from the pathologies they have loosed upon the land. For a few hours yesterday they weren't.
In a self-governing republic of citizen-legislators, that ought to be sobering and instructive. But, of course, it wasn't. Still, I was surprised that even politicians and pundits could utter all that eyewash about "the citadel of democracy" and "a light to the world" with a straight face. It's a citadel of crap, and the lights went out long ago: ask anyone who needs that $600 "relief

Just heard from Basement Joe that Government is not of the people but of only laws.
Good read and spit on.
I saw that. It was a horrible rendition of The Beatles “Come Together “.
Mark Steyn seems to be the only sane voice in the media these days.
Though I would add Lou Dobbs.
Here is but one excerpt from his commentary. I highly recommend reading the entire commentary.
“””So it’s a Potemkin parliament.
That leads easily to the next stage of decay - for why would a Potemkin parliament not degenerate further into a pseudo-legislature? The Covid “relief” bill is 5,593 pages. There is no such thing as a 5,593-page “law” - because no legislator could read it and grasp it. For purposes of comparison, the Government of India Act, which in 1935 was the longest piece of legislation ever drafted in British law and which provided for the government of what are now India, Pakistan and Burma, is 326 pages.””””
By God Steyn just knocks this out of the park with appropriate levels of tact and anger. What happened in DC and the ensuing media slobbering is the very definition of the word “Fail” and not a single politician on either side of the aisle has responded in a way appropriately to the gravity of the event.
More from Steyn-—
“””Whatever that is, it’s not a republic. As beacons to the world go, stick it where the beacon don’t shine. I wish no ill to anyone in the building, but I do support, during the next recess, its complete dismantling and the salting of the earth: it is not a “citadel of democracy”, only a sick perversion thereof.”””
That “dark winter” ChinaJoe promised will last decades...and get progressively worse.
At this point, our ONLY option is to take back our country by force.
Sadly, you are correct..we’re heading into a dark period in American history.
Be aware, there are some here on FR who will ridicule you for your stance...
It’s already happened - from the freepers with their heads buried deep in the sand.
It’s almost like they are emotionally unable to face reality like a small child....kinda like the Quooks still believing in their fairy tale.
I hope you mean “spot on”.
It’s called normalization bias. They feel since it has never happened before, here, it can’t happen. I noticed it big time during the Clintoon regime in the 90s. They also usually don’t know about the Bonus Marchers event, early in the last century.
Good catch !!! That was my single finger typing on a phone...
My friend’s brother ran against Sheila Jackson Lee in the primary. The vote-buying is endemic. This is no longer a representative republic. The courts, both branches of legislature and the executive have all been overthrown by communists. Extreme violence including random summary execution (Ashli Bobbitt, unarmed, shot point blank in the face), together with suppression of freedoms - speech, religion, to keep and bear arms, assembly etc. - are extinguished. Even the President of the United States in censored. The constitutional republic no longer functions, certainly not in the legislature, and constitutional freedoms simply no longer exist.
The closest comparison in recent history is the disintegration of the USSR. What followed is dictatorship by state security, and emergence of oligarchy to completely control economy. Those forces are already strongly emerging here.
“Pseudo Legislature...”?
THERE’S a story!
To plagiarize myself from elsewhere:
If there were any ‘journalists’ in the US-THAT would be the story that would make your career for you!!
Oh well....’news’ from now on out will just be the DNC rubber stamp telling us what we already know and what is patently obvious. Sort of like the National Enquirer telling us (on a daily basis) meaningless and vapid details of what the ‘Hollywierd’ idiots did and said yesterday ... how much drugs... who divorced who...etc??? MSM coverage and depth will be a political ‘National Enquirer’ only less colorful or believable.
Maybe the MSM will get SO bored and SO nostalgic for professional esteem and public attention, that they will RESORT to actual journalism’, as it was formerly practiced and intended!!
