[General John “The Mole” Kelly said today Trump should be kicked out office under 25th Amendment.]
I never understood why Trump kept appointing these Democrats to office. Now he knows it was a mistake. It’s not even merely a matter of party affiliation - it’s key that you have people you’ve known for a long time - people you can trust to not stab you in the back. That’s why Reagan chose William French Smith, then Ed Meese to be AG. Both had known Reagan since his days as governor of California over a decade earlier. Reagan chose well.

[That’s good news to me. I never liked that guy.]
Trump human resource policy has been the way a CEO and company owner staffs his operation. He doesn’t worry about loyalty, because these are at-will employees he can fire at any time. The problem is that a president can neither hire nor fire anyone for any reason. Hiring has to go through the Senate, and firings, where this is even possible, have political consequences. And yet he never deviated from that policy. In that respect, he’s somewhat of a slow learner.
If he had chosen some of his hometown cronies for senior positions - Giuliani to be his AG, and someone like Bernard Kerik to be Homeland Chief or White House Chief of Staff, many of his problems would never have materialized. Kerik would have fired all of the Russia investigation conspirators without prompting by Trump. That’s the thing about people you know well and are friends - they will instinctively cover for you because they know you will cover for them.

No way in hell would the Senate confirm any of “his people” to those senior posts. Heck, I probably wouldn’t, either.
If left to his own devices, Trump probably would have picked MICHAEL COHEN as his AG. I’m only half kidding about that.

I get the impression Trump chose many of his employees more for entertainment value than for their productivity. That’s OK in the private sector, but dangerous when you’re a politician. Hope Hicks is photogenic, but I’m trying to figure out the value-added.
Basically all of Reagan’s inner circle consisted of old white guys he had known for while. This was endlessly denounced as cronyism by the media, but more and more, I’m beginning to see the wisdom of his choices.
