Indianapolis Has Fallen: A Red State Capital City Degrades Itself to Blue City Levels
American Thinker ^ | 01/07/2021 | Richard Moss

Posted on 01/07/2021 7:04:55 AM PST by SeekAndFind

I had known this mid-size metropolis since the seventies when I lived here as a medical student, attending the Indiana University School of Medicine. Then, Indianapolis was referred to as India-no-place or Naptown. But Indianapolis has come a long way since then, attracting professional sports teams, stadiums, and major corporations. There are cultural and art districts, comedy clubs, and trendy, upscale neighborhoods. It has an array of tech-schools and universities, gondola rides along its canal, distilleries, symphony halls, theaters, ethnic restaurants, an excellent zoo, and several museums including the largest children’s museum in the world. My children and I have enjoyed much of what this city has to offer, in particular its downtown area, known as Monument Circle.

Here, the Soldiers and Sailors Monument inspires and dazzles, with its glorious fountains, pools, and statues honoring our valiant soldiers and sailors from Indiana who fought and died in our nation’s wars. The Christmas lights are iconic and splendid, and each year we visited the great memorial at night, lit up brilliantly, our Rockefeller Center. It had always been a clean and safe downtown, a place I had felt comfortable visiting with my young family – until now.

This year, Monument Circle swarmed not with tourists and patrons but with a succession of homeless encampments, bedecked with tents, sleeping bags, blankets, cardboard shelters, and, of course, hundreds of vagrants sleeping or milling about. What had been one of the cleanest, most scenic, and safe downtown centers in the country had deteriorated into a third-world, garbage-strewn, threatening urban nightmare.

The entrances to the Hilbert Circle Theater and the nearby Indiana Repertory Theater were boarded up and crammed with itinerants, trash, and debris. It was demoralizing and disgusting, an urban cesspool of dystopia and vagrancy.

That’s not because of the “homeless” per se - the boarding up and abandoning of the city is DIRECTLY related to blue mayor Hogsett capitulating to BLM and AntiFa and pulling the police off the streets.

Well obviously those statues of soldiers and sailors need to come down since they honor and celebrate colonialism and oppression around the world by the evil interventionist United States military. “Mr BuyDUHn, tear down this wall!”

Too much fear, anger, pessimism, and useless quotes from gloating socialists on FR today. Needed: a rational discussion of where we go from here. I see a little bit of it starting to poke through.

Drive 100 miles down I-65 and just replace the name “Hogsett” with “Fischer” and it’s the EXACT same story!

The decrepit and corrupt blue cities in this country determine who leads the country. They decide who the president will be for now and forever.

RE: Needed: a rational discussion of where we go from here.

You want an optimistic post? This FReeper ( me) can’t give you one unfortunately because I can’t find one when it comes to our Federal government.

We are witnessing our country disintegrating before our very eyes and we feel helpless to do anything to stop it.

The words “Not for self, but country” are inscribed over the chapel doors at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Unfortunately, they haven’t taken any traction in our nation’s capital on the banks of the Potomac. Everybody inside the Beltway is seeking his or her own fortune and securing their grasp on power. The greater good is not a consideration.

Consider what is happening at all levels of government, state and Federal...

So Congress certifies the election of Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States. Nobody cares about the enormous amount of evidence of election fraud, Neither Congress nor the Supreme Court would consider the merits of the issues. The reason, it pains me to say, is that our constitutional process has broken down because those who are required to implement it have too much to lose due to their own corruption which would be exposed.

I won’t rail against John Roberts or Mitch McConnell. You’ve heard that before. Nobody is poised to punish either one of them. Frankly, nobody really seems to care. Those who are corrupt feel quite comfortable in the company of others who have likewise compromised their positions and betrayed the sacred trust which we put in them.

What disturbs me the most is that we are about to get a president who has not been lawfully elected to that high office. If Joe Biden is indeed sworn in on January 20th, he can never claim to be the legitimate 46th President of the United States because he did not earn 270+ electoral votes legally. But, it isn’t just the fact that this has happened, moreover it is the inexplicable fact that nobody seems to care. That part I simply don’t understand.

This is not just about Donald Trump. This is about saving our constitutional republic which has survived for 245 years but which is now on its deathbed.

There is nothing other than vindictiveness which would motivate anybody right now to try to do another impeachment witch hunt or to use the 25th Amendment. Even the most mild-mannered among us is going to react if you get in their face one time too many. You are on the verge of that now.

For now, I will simply ask God for His Divine Mercy as the United States of America enters our darkest period since the First Civil War.

Add Columbus, Ohio to the fallen cities. Too many years of a Democrat Mayor and city council. Our latest Mayor, Ginther, is cut from the same exact cloth as the infamous leftist mayors of Philly, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit....

As of yesterday, 6 days into the new year, we have recorded 8 homicides in the city already for 2021.

It won’t be long before Columbus is a lawless sanctuary city.

Only 32 states have registration by political party. Yours does, mine doesn’t.

So what good comes out of posts venting about what we already know — that the USA is in terrible shape? How about a few action suggestions.

In a word, secession.

"Secession belongs to a different class of remedies. It is to be justified upon the basis that the States are Sovereign. There was a time when none denied it. I hope the time may come again, when a better comprehension of the theory of our Government, and the inalienable rights of the people of the States, will prevent any one from denying that each State is a Sovereign, and thus may reclaim the grants which it has made to any agent whomsoever."

Isn’t it strange how all the urban areas have Democrats as mayors? I’m guessing they’ve been stealing elections for quite some time.
