These last minute resignations are forward thinking. They are currying their resumes for future uniparty appointments, lobbying, or consulting.
The problem is that the communists have long memories and short attention spans. These people may be put into low level positions in which they think they're safe and secure, but eventually communists purge.
I believe that is exactly what is happening.
