The hallmark of the USSR was lies. The entire soviet society knew everything they were told was a lie. Factory outputs, grand claims, harvest reports, explanations for everything. They became experts on seeing through the bullshit.
When their news showed some news story with film criticizing America, they looked into the background of the shot and saw cars, houses, and luxury.

Our entire society is built on lies now.

One of the primary reasons my wife fled the East Bloc (besides the unsympathetic interview by the secret police) was the fact that every day you were forced in one way or another to affirm what you knew to be lies, to be complicit in your own oppression.

That's what the elite are trying to force us to do now-- they've won, they know it, and the torrent of lies is way to further humiliate us and force us to become complicit.

Our current propaganda does the same in reverse: watch TV and you'd think the US was full of happy, prosperous minorities and gay couples fostering children.

Just ignore the poverty caused by outsourcing, illegals, H1B visas, regulatory strangulation and taxes as well as the criminality stemming from failed social welfare policies and out of wedlock births among protected classes.
