There was a long hallway behind the door. The glass was broken so there was a clear view. There were police officers all thru the crowd. No one was in danger.

In a sense the Capitol Police were guarding against attackers— who were not armed with firearms- in the same way that they happened to be at the Republican team baseball practice (guarding Sen. Rand Paul) and shot the Berni-bot lunatic who shot Steve Scalise and many others- shot the unemployed home inspector with a rifle-... dead.
