Bond denied on murder charge for suspect accused of assaulting City of Florence employee

FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) — Bond was denied Tuesday for a man charged with murder in a random assault on a City of Florence employee.

Police took Jawan Kavorie Crittenden, 18, into custody in the 700 block of Habitat Lane around 5 p.m. Monday, police said. Crittenden has been charged with murder and possession of a deadly weapon during a violent crime.

Crittenden appeared in court at 2:30 p.m. While no bond was set for the murder charge, a $100,000 bond was set for the weapon charge.

Around 10:09 a.m. Monday, Florence police responded to the area of 801 Clement Street and the Northwest Park Community Center to calls of an assault with a knife, according to police.

The victim, who was only identified by Florence Police Chief Allen Heidler as a city recreation employee, was taken to a hospital.

Crittenden was just arrested Saturday for alleged shoplifting and released Sunday on a $2,000 bond, according to booking records.

Unfortunately, the victim is a friend of a very close, loved friend of mine. She's devastated. There's just no excuse for this, and I pray this poor little Amish soul gets his just reward from the One, True, Judge.

Not that I’ve planned this or anything, but I live next door to a cemetery. I figure, find the freshest grave, dig 3 feet down, dump the body, cover it up with the same dirt I just dug up.

I mean, who’s going to go looking for a dead body in a fresh grave? Police dogs would be alerting every other step or so..

Yes, and the judge doesn’t get a say. The jury has to unanimously vote for the death penalty. If even one juror says no, it becomes a hung jury, and the perp gets life sentence instead.

They use lethal injection, unless the soon-to-be-dead opts for the electric chair. Apparently though, in 2019, SC Senate voted to allow firing squads again. Huh, some progress, I guess.

Jawan Crittenden He was arrested on Saturday for shoplifting and other crimes, released on Sunday, and murdered a woman in cold blood on Monday.

Our medical system isn't broke, our justice system is broken.
