“We don’t expect him to be there,” Grassley, 87, initially said of Pence, per Roll Call. As president pro tempore of the Senate, or the second-highest ranking official of the chamber, Grassley suggested he would stand in for Pence.

But within minutes, Grassley backtracked. “Every indication we have is that the vice president will be there,” Grassley’s office said, Roll Call reported.

After the confusion, Grassley’s office said that the Iowa senator was simply trying to explain what would happen if Pence had to step away. “

Sure. We believe you Chuck. Sure.

The USSC has ZERO authority to interfere in State matters.

Does Bush v. Gore ring any bells?

Grassley says Pence won’t be there, and he’s filling in.

Then, later, Grassley’s OFFICE says that’s not what’s happening.

Nothing on Grassley’s Twitter account about this.

Pence was part of the Boehner, Ryan, Cantor House GOP leadership.

Only Bush League Republicans get into leadership in the GOP.
They MUST be Cheap Labor Express stooges.

The USSC has ZERO authority to interfere in State matters. This is the ultimate example of a non-justiceable political question.

This is not just a state matter. Their are Federal powers and rights also involved.

This is the ultimate example of a non-justiceable political question.

No it's not.

“ . Socialism violates the 10th, 13th, and 14th Amendments and represents a breaking of the contract for the country as represented by the Constitution”

What do you mean by socialism? Our big problem is globalism - the offshoring of American factories to the Third World, so our economic base disappears. And the import of cheap labor to take what jobs are left. Both the Dems and the GOP establishment push this. “Socialism” is the least of our worries.

BTW, the GOP ran against “socialism” in 2008 and 2012 - and lost. In 2016 Trump ran against globalism - and won. He didn’t mention socialism once in that campaign. But this year the GOP went back to running against “socialism”. As in 2008 and 2012, it didn’t work

The truth is, people who’ve lost their jobs to offshoring - people in the rust belt - don’t fear ‘“socialism”. In fact, many of them are GETtING BY because of govt help likecunempkoyment, food stamps, and Social Security. Republican Koch Brothers-types warning about “socialism” doesn’t get many votes in Michigan, Pennsylvani and Wisconsin

If Trump had been able to get stimulus checks to people before the election, that would have won more votes than rhetoric about socialism. But Nancy and Mitch blocked him. They both wanted him to lose

Correction it was not a tweet it was an announcement from his office. Then 11 minutes later he announced he would fill in if Pence had to leave. Something is up.

I’m sure VP Pence called, the Fake news NYT as soon as he finished talking to President Trump.

Don’t believe anything from the media.

They lie and are totally biased.

"Go ahead Pence. See how it feels to unleash civil war you spineless coward. See your name enshrined with every turncoat in history."

He's just speaking the truth. He has no such power.

Bravo!

The "socialism" trope is dead as a doornail. The people want socialism - they just want nationalism with it.

Vote Dem - get socialism and population replacement. Vote GOP, get job destruction, finance instead of production, AND population replacement.

Time for something new.

Grass key will preside over the Senate when they have their 2-hour session on each state’s electors which are challenged. Pence will preside over the joint session.

Nobody is telling Pence to change the election results. Only to THROW THE RESULTS OF DISPUTED STATES BACK TO THE INDIVIDUAL STATE LEGISLATURES to decide, after due deliberation which slate of electors to Officially send.

As of now, we have Legislators from the state of Pennsylvania demanding that their own state’s results NOT BE CERTIFIED.

What’s Pence going to do? Turn a blind eye to this?

“ Does Bush v. Gore ring any bells? ”

It sure does. On my top ten list of gross usurpations of power by the USSC, Bush v. Gore is in the top 3. That case never should have been heard by the court.

If the court has allowed the Constitution to function, Bush had a 100% chance of winning. There was a small chance that Joe Lieberman could have wound up VP, but that might not have been so bad if it kept us out of Iraq.
