GEORGIA: Legislator Circulates Plan To Call Special Session Without Kemp’s Permission As Governor Stonewalls

"We believe we have reached the point that the results of this election are untrustworthy," said Jones.

On Monday, Georgia State Sen. Burt Jones began circulating a petition that would allow the Georgia legislature to meet for an emergency legislative session that would allow them to fully investigate the credible accusations of widespread voter fraud presented by the Trump campaign and legal team, even as Gov. Brian Kemp has ignored demands to call a special legislature.

In a call to action posted to Twitter, Jones wrote “Today is the day we need you to call your state Senate & House Reps & ask them to sign the petition for a special session.” He added, “We must have free & fair elections.”

In Georgia it requires a petition by both houses to call a special session.

Upon presentation to the governor of a petition signed by three-fifths of the members of each house, with a copy to the secretary of state.

Why is Kemp pushing so hard against this?

It’s like if a review flag is thrown on a play, and the quarterback insists that his team is in the wrong, and objects to the review.

FINALLY! The Governor doesn’t have to be involved. In this instance, the U.S. Constitution gives the states’ legislatures the autonomy to convene themselves. U.S. Constitution supersedes any state’s Constitution. (I heard all of this on War Room, I think.) Governors can piss up a rope — and whine if they want to.

The governor has no choice but to call the legislature into special session if 60% of the member of both houses call for one. I don’t think they have the votes in the lower house to do that.

No, not by US Constitution, it is by state Constitution.

There is no general rule I have found connected with the U.S. Constitution.

Can you please cite the wording of the Constitution that allows that? I can’t find it.

Thanks

True. If there was a state funding crisis they would have met to address the problem in the blink of an eye. Election integrity is a much lower priority than money. Which is really why they are all there in the first place.

‘They’ blew up Kemp’s daughter’s boyfriend to make an impression on him. He fell right in line after that.

They own the voting process in GA and are not going anywhere. Except maybe to the bank.

Just posting what a “constitutional authority” said on either Bannon’s War Room or OAN. I didn’t make it up. The guy may be wrong, but it’s what he said.
