Following President-elect Joe Biden's 2020 win against President Donald Trump, many hip-hop artists are turning their focus to the high-stakes Georgia Senate runoffs, where Democrats are running to unseat two Republican incumbent senators.
Communities of color in Atlanta and the surrounding areas were key to Biden’s narrow win against Trump in the Peach State, where the Black vote is especially powerful, hip-hop artists are hoping to boost turnout and deliver another win for Democrats.
Hip-hop stars from all over the country have participated in virtual or in-person events in Georgia to get out the vote. Recently, artists like Common, BRS Kash, Moneybagg Yo, Tokyo Jetz and J.I.D. performed at rallies and concerts featuring Ossoff and Warnock.
And on Sunday, former first lady Michelle Obama’s non-profit When We All Vote hosted a drive-in concert featuring artists like Rick Ross, Common, Jeezy, Monica and DJ Drama. Ross, a Florida rapper who is prominent in the Southern rap scene, also performed at a "Joy to the Polls" pop-up concert Dec. 29 in Atlanta.
“Hip-hop artists in Atlanta have always had this pull on the people, always had a connection to the people and always represented the voice for the people, and I think that is just hip-hop in general,” Bonnette-Bailey said. But she added that local stars like Killer Mike and T.I., who have deep roots in the community and a history of political activism, have a “unique” connection with the people because their efforts are viewed as “authentic.”
In an effort to boost voter turnout in the runoffs, Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz announced to fans that he is giving away a Tesla -- a luxury electric car -- to a Georgia voter who requests a mail-in-ballot or pledges to vote.

All cultures are equal.
Wonder how these artists feel about the disenfranchisement of Trump supporters who are people of color? The people who had their votes switched/lost/destroyed by fellow Dems?
Someone should ask these guys why it’s okay for people of color to disenfranchise other people of color?
Not news. Cop killers ALWAYS support the “democrats” (Marxists).
I really don’t understand the “high stakes”. Mitch McConnell is the one with the most to gain or lose. If the Dems allow the Reps to win, Mitch gets to sell his approval of the Dem agenda. If the Dems decide to steal the seats, Mitch takes a seat, watches the Dems roll, and complains about not being able to stop the Dems.
Strategically, I would think it would benefit Dems the most to allow the Reps to win. They’re still going to get their way, China Mitch will “reach across the aisle”. If anything goes wrong, they can blame Mitch and the Reps for obstructionism.
I guess there is an appeal to running the communist agenda with no negotiating necessary.
Biden referred to the entertainers who were performing before his five minute speech at a campaign event either yesterday or Sunday. Hillary used the same strategy. People came for the entertainers, not for her. Hillary did not have the advantage of mass mail in ballots however.
A lot of rappers get shot and killed in Atlanta.
Just part of the scene, I guess.
“Someone should ask these guys why it’s okay for people of color to disenfranchise other people of color?”
...they’d simply call them Uncle Toms or Oreos and then kick the person who presented the question in the head.
Is this even legal? Democrats did use many strategies like this including having free food trucks right outside of Dem stronghold voting places in cities, gifts for Native Americans on reservations etc.
Prior to this year, they had to provide transportation for people to the polls. Now they just have to hand them a paper ballot, have them sign it and hand it back.

501c3 tax cheats
Non-profits are supposed to be non-partisan.
Lock her up
Dead musicians’ estates rake in big bucks
Don’t even have to tour, dawg.
Demographics is destiny.
To these folks, it is simply black vs white. They want what we have built, but they want it given to them. They will vote to have it. They will use it up, and then will continue to blame whitey for their misfortune.
I think people are miscounting the Senate.
Kamala Harris was sworn for the new session.
If she is to be sworn in as Veep she will have to step down as Senauor and the Rats will lose on seat for awhile.
Mitt Romney can be counted on to vote with the Dems just as Bernie does.
Tru Dat.
Part and partial of democRAT “values”
This is who they are.
Brothers, sisters,
Don’t be rotten.
Stay on the farm and
keep pickin’ cotton!
The whities all hate you
And call you all thugs.
We’ll give you free stuff
And legalize drugs.
So vote for Warnock,
He one of us!
Its an honor to sit
in the back of the bus!
Laws are for little people (deplorables, conservatives, Trumpists)
I like it, though it’s genuinely creative, and thus missing the 38 N-words and 47 MFers...
