It was the first day of a fresh year, and yet, across much of California, the numbing realities we had longed to put behind us — hospitals at capacity, mounting death tolls, and massive, maskless gatherings — have followed us into 2021.
On Friday, the number of Californians who have died from complications of COVID-19 passed 26,000 — roughly the same number of Californians who, in a recent year, died of complications of the flu, diabetes, hypertension and liver disease combined.
In L.A. County, where hospitals have gotten so backed up that patients have had to wait outside in ambulances for up to eight hours, hope for some respite finally arrived Friday: The Army Corps of Engineers was planning to send specialized crews to the region to update oxygen-delivery systems at a handful of aging hospitals.

I’m sure “Rong-Gong Lin II” is pleasing his Beijing masters with his indepth propaganda — I mean, reporting.
Or, maybe it is true hospitals are getting filled up in L.A county..I have a relative who works at a ER in L.A. and she says they have been getting a lot of people sick with coronavirus...I know more people who are getting covid now than in the last 10 months.
But lockdowns work! Why is there a virus tsunami? /sarc

Hospitals everywhere are getting filled up. Especially emergency rooms.
Happens every single long holiday weekend.
Didn’t they ban outdoor dining in California? Real smart because the only thing left to do is to go to somebody’s house and that’s how you catch the coronavirus.
No. “Somebody’s house” is not necessarily where you “catch it.” You could “catch it” in a myriad of ways, in all kinds of places. If you “catch it,” there’s a 99-percent-plus chance you will recover from it, if you even feel it more than a sniffle.
We all need to stop this ridiculous media-led nonsense that specific places, specific times, specific events (particularly specific events that the media doesn’t like), are fraught with “catching COVID” possibility.
Do any of us EVER know exactly when we caught ANY disease?

Im pretty sure I caught the chicken pox at school in 2nd grade. And Ive had the brown bottle flu way more times than I remember and I kept going back for more. Bot all my rowdy friends have settled down.
The media’s hysterical scare-stories about the Sturgis bike rally this past summer (”Oh my God! They’re not wearing masks!”) and the Trump rallies this fall (”Oh my God! They’re not wearing masks!”) sort of showed you exactly where their heads were at.
Rioting and looting without masks was okay, though.
Well, yes, in some cases, I even know who I caught it from.
I got Covid from my spouse who picked it up at a men’s bible study that several prison guards also attend. And we know who became symptomatic first and in what order.
We are all fine now and I’ve had worse head colds. But I can recommend WonderLabs Zinc lozenges and Zicam nasal swabs which I had never used before which might explain why my previous head colds were worse than Covid. I will now keep Zicam stocked in my medicine cabinet.
I also know when and where and from whom I got Mono in high school.

One thing I do know from years working in schools. Parents have a bad habit of masking fevers with acetaminophen and sending them to school so they don’t miss work. I kind of like the idea of checking every kid’s forehead as they enter school and sending them home pronto. I think that one thing would have a huge effect on influenza transmission.
Isn’t medical use of Oxygen only a very minor portion of the use of purified oxygen?
I thought steel production alone used more than half.
I suggested that the military could easily help overwhelmed hospitals, esp. with oxygen supplies, several times in the past few months and the other night. Gov. Gruesom and his totally incompetent Marxist mayors didn’t call on them in the past (that I know of) BEFORE medical supplies problems even started.
The Boys Scouts had a motto, “Be Prepared” and the Coast Guard motto is “Semper Paratus” (Always Prepared). The left has been trying to destroy the BSA and many on the Left don’t want the Coast Guard intercepting drug ships or illegal immigrants.
Now you know why - the BSA ad CG knew that if there was going to be a serious problem in the future, you had to think about being prepared AHEAD of time to deal with it.
In California, the Left doesn’t think about anything realistically except how to seize power and impose a Marxist authoritarian regime, and they are doing it very well, thank you (California Ahole voters).

Back to covid.... If more people had a fear of God and kept their privates private, we wouldn't have so many sick kids in school spreading this virus.
BTW, what ever happened to all those bikers at the sturgis rally? Has ironhorse magazine been printing extra issues with biker obits???
California had 9 months to prepare for the surge in covid-19 patients. And they dropped the ball.
