Cohen wrote a book with former Colorado Dem Senator Gary Hart while in the Senate. Hart recommended him to Clinton for Defense Secretary. Everyone associates Hart with the Donna Rice story, but his failure in ‘88 resulted from Hart's elitist, free trade policies, and inability to raise money. Cohen was best man at McCain's wedding and Hart was also in the wedding party.
